I'm Shakib, a

I'm a mobile developer working in Kotlin Multiplatform, currently at IRES in Karlsruhe. Over the past year I built an E2E-encrypted cross-platform messenger from scratch — it started as my Master's thesis, IRES kept me on to take it to production, and it's now being integrated as the communication layer of IRES Work, the company's employee platform.

Before IRES, I introduced the first test automation to a previously fully-manual testing team at Bosch Rexroth, and before Germany I spent a year and a half shipping Android apps and client websites at an agency in India. Outside work, I recently launched Dissent — a social app for live "hot takes," built solo on one KMP codebase and shipped to both app stores.

My Journey

April 2025 - Present

Mobile Application Developer

IRES GmbH, Karlsruhe, Germany

Built an E2E-encrypted cross-platform messenger from scratch in Kotlin Multiplatform — started as my Master's thesis, then taken to production full-time: shared Jetpack Compose Multiplatform UI for Android and iOS, Firebase backend (Firestore, Auth, FCM), MVVM + clean architecture structured for testability, E2E encryption for 1-to-1 and group chats, file sharing and read receipts.

Since January 2026, working in a 7–8 person cross-functional team on IRES Work — an employee app for working hours, tasks, team organization and device management — integrating the messenger as its built-in communication layer.

System Test Engineer

Bosch Rexroth, Stuttgart, Germany

Introduced test automation to a previously fully-manual testing workflow for the ActiveShuttle AMR system — the first scripting initiative on the team. Built internal Python tooling covering client-specific requirements and repetitive regression cases, adopted by the testing team alongside manual testing. Worked in a 5-person agile team during the AMR ramp-up phase using Jira, GitHub and Linux.

Dissent — The Opinion Arena

The arena for hot takes: users post a stance and others join live to argue it out. Built solo on a single Kotlin Multiplatform codebase driving both the Android and iOS builds — designed, developed, and shipped end to end through both store review processes. Live since May 2026.
